In his message, the President said that festivals like Tamu Lhosar help foster mutual goodwill, tolerance and brotherhood among all Nepalis by strengthening national unity. Additionally, it will inspire everyone to contribute towards building an economically and socially prosperous nation and continue to progress along the path of development, he said.
Meanwhile, Vice President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav also extended his best wishes to all Nepalis both in the country and abroad. In his message, he said that our festivals play a vital role in preserving the cultural diversity of Nepal by keeping the community's language, culture, clothing and traditional customs alive.
He said that it was important to promote these festivals by linking them with tourism, which would add positive energy to Nepal's tourism sector.
The cultural programmes held during these festivals also contribute to increasing economic activity at the local level.
Likewise, Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has wished good health, longevity and progress of Nepali people on the occasion of Tamu Lhosar in a statement issued on Monday.
The Gurung community, residing in the Himalayan and high-hilly regions of Nepal, traditionally celebrates Tamu Lhosar with joy and enthusiasm as the beginning of the new year. This festival is celebrated with great fanfare in various districts where the Gurung community is in the majority.
