Nepali peacekeepers are safe in Syria: Army

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Dec. 11: The Nepali Army Headquarters has confirmed that all Nepali soldiers deployed in Syria under the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission are safe.

The rebel group HTS captured Damascus, the capital city, prompting Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to flee to Russia. After the rebels seized power, the government security forces had to backtrack.

During these developments, an armed group forcibly entered the 10-A security post in Hadar, where Nepali peacekeepers were stationed, according to a press statement issued by the Army Headquarters, on Monday. 

Army Spokesperson and Brigadier General Gaurav Kumar KC said, "The situation of Nepali peacekeepers deployed across various locations in Syria under the UN Mission, including the security post in question, remains normal."
