Nawalparasi, Nov 28: The industries located at Nadwa of Ramgram municipality-10 in Paschim Nawalparasi district have polluted the vicinity with effluents, thereby jeopardizing human health, livestock and vegetation.
The waste water emanated from the industries has not only polluted land but also spread horrible stench.
The people have lodged complaints against the polluting industries at the District Administration Office and Ramgram Municipality.
Sandip Yadav from Palhinandan rural municipality-6 said the waste emanated from the local industry had polluted the water. The wastewater is mixed with chemical which is reeking.
Even the livestock were died after the consumption of toxic water, while crops and vegetation are also at the receiving end.
The management of drainpipes is so haphazard that they are emptied in local streams and rivers.
Yadav further said the local authority and the District Administration Office were drawn attention on the growing pollution.
Ruslan Vodka, Varun Beverage, Lumbini Paper Mill and Goenka Pvt are some of the industries in the district producing wastewater and emptying the drainpipe in river. They have direct impact on human and livestock, according to Dharendra Yadav from Palhinandan.
Ward Chairman at Ramgram municipality-10, Suresh Yadav, admitted that the industrial runoff had dirtied the environment.
Similarly, Chief District Officer at Paschim Nawalparasi, Scheme Shrestha, also informed that they inspected the locality and found that wastewater was polluting the environment. A discussion would be held among the people's representatives, citizens and representatives from industries to find solution, she added. (RSS)
