Jumla, Nov.19: Karnali Academy of Health Sciences (KAHS), Jumla, has been locked out. The teachers and staff working there have padlocked the establishment.
58 teaching staff have locked the establishment saying that the demand for promotion and upgrading has not been addressed. Medical classes have been affected because of being locked out.
Other administrative works have also been hindered as the office of the Vice-Chancellor, and Registrar have been locked.
Around 400 teachers are employed under KAHS of which only around 70-75 are permanent, making a large number working as temporary and contractual workers.
The protesting employees gave the reason for not proceeding with the process of making temperate staff permanent, saying that the office bearers of KAHS are impeding the process even after having the court decision on their side and the decision of the senate meeting in their favor.
The employees protested and signed a bilateral agreement on September 7, 2023. In which promotion letter was given on September 25, 2023.
However, the employees have alleged that there has been a delay in the implementation of the agreement to advance the leveling process of other permanent employees from September 18, 2023.
