Dharan, Nov. 5: Writer Prakash Thamsuhang’s essay collection ‘Shabdathum’ is selected for the ‘Bimal Kriti Award–2080’.

The organisers announced that Thamsuhang’s essay collection was selected based on the recommendation of the judging committee from among 102 works by Nepali-speaking writers, authors, and creators from both Nepal and abroad.

Purna Bahadur Gurung, president of the Bimal Gurung Memorial Library, said that the essays in ‘Shabdathum’ intricately portray the indigenous culture, awareness and lifestyle rooted in the Eastern identity.

He said that the essays give voice to these indigenous values, culture, and way of life.

The organisers noted that the essay collection emphasises the cultural aspects and marginalised awareness of its region while conveying powerful ideas.

The library’s secretary, Bhim Chamling, said that ‘Shabdathum’ is filled with the essence of the land and cultural vibrance, sparking a respectful discourse on the community and traditions.

Among the submitted works, 10 were shortlisted earlier.
