PM releases Kandara band’s new song

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Jan. 2: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli released Kandara band’s new song ‘Hunechha: The Song of Hope’ at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar on Wednesday, on the occasion of New Year 2025. 

The song has been created to incorporate the Prime Minister’s expressions about building a positive society, possibilities, prosperity and stability.

 It holds special relevance for patriots, as it keeps alive the love for the nation, the dream of a united and prosperous Nepal, and inspires all Nepalis to embrace values of hope, unity, transformation, courage, and sacrifice. 

Singer Bivek Shrestha said that the song presents a symbol of positive possibilities for Nepali people. 

“This song is a ray of hope, inspiring every Nepali to take responsibility and move forward in unity,” said singer Shrestha.  

He also expressed that the Prime Minister’s acknowledgement and participation in releasing the music video had further motivated the band.

The song’s lyrics and music are by the band’s drummer, Sunil Thapa. 

The video’s direction and storyline were crafted by Kedar Bhusal. 

Kandara Band is renowned in Nepali music for hits like ‘Lekaki He Maya’,  ‘Bideshiyera Gain Uni’,  ‘Chanchale Kanchhiko’,  ‘Bhedi Gothaima’,  ‘Hong Kong Pokhara’, ‘Tagaroma Rumal’  and ‘Bichara Ma’. 

 The current band members include  Bivek Shrestha on vocals, Sunil Thapa on drums, Dev Lama on lead guitar, Pankaj Jha on bass guitar, Avinash Gayak on percussion, and Umesh Thapa on keyboards. Vocalist Shrestha and drummer Sunil Thapa are founding members of the band.

Earlier, Kandara had announced the years 2024-2025 as a celebration of their 32-year musical journey, under the slogan ‘First the Homeland, Then Abroad,’ unveiling a schedule for nationwide and global tours.
