Kaligandaki Rural Municipality sells marigold of worth Rs 14 lakh

By Radha Krishna Dumre, Waling, Nov 4: Kaligandaki Rural Municipality of Syangja district has supplied Marigold worth Rs 14 lakh. It supplied the flowers to Palpa, Kaski and Rupandehi districts.

The Rural Municipality had helped the marketing of Marigold collected from 17 small commercial farmers and 3 schools in the Rural Municipality. 

Municipality Chairperson Khim Bahadur Thapa said that municipality is preparing to provide grants based on the production. 

The last year’s sales of Marigold surpassed Rs 30 lakh. 

Agricultural Department Head Anupam Paudel said that the production of Marigold has  spread in 40 Ropanis of land.   

 Municipality has been providing grant for Marigold farming to Dhruba Jyoti secondary school, Deurali secondary school and Mirmi primary school implementing the policy of the “Study with Earning” program.  

Chief Administrative Officer of the Rural municipality Parshuram Upadhya shared that the municipality has been jointly working with Heifer project for production and marketing. He said, “Marketing has become easy after working in partnership”. 

Chairperson of Namuna Barichaur Commercial Flower Farming located in Kaligandaki-7, Ghan Bahadur Thapa, said that it became easy after municipality took responsibility of marketing. 

He said, “ We are focused on production only, municipality has taken responsibility of marketing”.
