Ministry of Forests and Environment to be renamed

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Oct.26: The name of the Ministry of Forests and Environment is being changed to the Ministry of Forest, Environment and Climate Change. 

Secretary of the Ministry of Forest and Environment Deepak Kumar Kharal said that the meeting of the National Council for Disaster Risk Reduction and Management made a decision to rename the Ministry of Forest, Environment as the Ministry of Forest, Environment and Climate Change. 

He said, "Coordination on climate change in Nepal is very important. The council meeting today has made an instruction to name the Ministry of Forestry and Environment as the Ministry of Forestry, Environment and Climate Change. We are going accordingly." 

Secretary Kharal said that the government is planning to carry out climate change activities in a coordinated manner. Due to climate change, we are experiencing many problems and challenges due to the special environment and mountainous geography of Nepal.  

Secretary Kharal said, "While climate change is one of the main factors, the addition of our mountain range as a sensitive factor has its benefits, it also has its value."
