Kathmandu, Oct 25: Distribution of drinking water has resumed from Sundarighat of Kirtipur, Kathmandu after the direction of Minister for Water Supply, Pradeep Yadav.
Supply of drinking water was halted after the flood following the incessant rainfall that occurred on September 27 and 28 swept away pipelines along with sources.
Tripureshwor branch chief of Kathmandu Upathyaka Khanepani Limited (KUKL), Suman Bahadur Basnet, told RSS that drinking water distribution has resumed today after water from Nakkhu Rivulet in Lalitpur brought to the Water Treatment Plant, Sundarighat, on Thursday.
"We have become successful in bringing water to Sundarighat Water Treatment Plant after carrying out repair and maintenance of sources damaged by the flood", he mentioned.
The water will be distributed in various areas including Balkhu, Teku, Sabal Bahal today.
Chief Executive Officer of KUKL, Ashok Poudel shared that drinking water would be distributed as per the schedule from Saturday.
The flood and landslide that occurred in the last week of September damaged 525 drinking water projects across the country.
Minister Yadav said that repair and maintenance of these drinking water projects have started. (RSS)
