By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Oct. 9:The United States is set to provide DNA-related database software to the Nepal Police Headquarters.

An agreement regarding the software provision has been signed between the Nepal Police and the U.S. Department of Justice this week, according to the Nepal Police Headquarters on Monday.

The signing ceremony took place on Monday between the Inspector General of Police (IGP) of Nepal and representatives from the United States.

Through the Department of Justice, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is set to provide software that will help match the DNA of deceased individuals, whose faces are unrecognisable, with that of their family members. Officers working at the Nepal Police Forensic Laboratory said that matching the DNA of family members from the new database would make it easier to identify the bodies.
