PM Oli for paradigm shift in development

Kathmandu, Oct. 8: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that our development pattern needs a paradigm shift not merely reforms.     

At the 59th Board meeting of the Investment Board of Nepal today, Prime Minister Oli, also the Chairman of the Board, directed the officials to work in an effective manner by ending dillydallying and legal and procedural complexities.     

"Not through general reforms, we should make a paradigm shift. Mere amendments and changes in the old-fashioned laws won't suffice. The Board should be strengthened with experts, youth and energetic human resources," PM Oli added.     

PM Oli also asked the officials not to buy time for consultations and study of the development files and instructed the officials to work effectively for the nation's interests without accepting any of the side's undue pressure.     

"For this, we are implementing the tracking system to locate where the file is. We have decided to sort out the documents to finalize within three days after receiving the file," the PM said.     

The meeting has given theoretical approval to the four-year-long strategic and business plan proposed by Chief Executive Officer of Board Sushil Gyawali.     

This is the first meeting of the Board after the appointment of Oli as the Prime Minister and Gyawali as the CEO of the Board.     

The meeting approved the Board's current fiscal year's budget of Rs 188.3 million and the indicators of the work performance contract of CEO Gyawali.     

After the Board meeting, a work performance contract agreement was signed between PM Oli and CEO Gyawali.     

The Board is facilitating the projects having more than Rs 6 billion in investment and the hydropower projects of more than 200 megawatts power.(RSS)
