Korea to provide 500k USD to Nepal

Kathmandu, Oct 8: The Government of the Republic of Korea has decided to provide 500,000 US Dollars as humanitarian aid to Nepal to support the latter’s ongoing relief efforts in response to the recent heavy rains.     

A decision to this end was taken today, according to a press statement issued by the Embassy of Republic of Korea. "The ROK government hopes that this assistance will support the recovery of the affected areas and help residents in those areas swiftly return to their daily lives," reads the statement.     

Through the statement, Foreign Minister of Korea Cho Tae-yul has also conveyed the message of condolences to Nepal’s Foreign Minister Arzu Rana Deuba, over the severe floods and landslides in Nepal.     

 Referring to the many similarities between the two countries, the Embassy of the Republic of Korea has stated that Nepal is a priority country for development cooperation and assured to further strengthen the cooperation and friendly ties between the two countries.     

This year, Nepal and the Republic of Korea are celebrating 50th anniversary of bilateral relations by organising multiple events.(RSS)
