Press Council launches 'Media Year Book' for public

Kathmandu, Oct 6: The Press Council Nepal (PCN) has launched the 'Media Year Book' on the occasion of its 55th anniversary. The book published in the English language highlights the overall situation of Nepali media. 

According to Council Chairperson Bal Krishna Basnet, the publication is an attempt to address the void of official publications in English presenting the overall situation of Nepali media. 

The book attempts to analyze major developments, trends, policies, and programmes in the media. "The book is expected to address international interest to understand the Nepali media," Basnet added.  

The book was previously unveiled by President Ramchandra Paudel on the occasion of the Council's anniversary recently and it has been made available publicly since Saturday, according to the Council. 

The book comprises 16 articles on the issue of Nepali media, challenges and opportunities brought by latest technology in journalism, freedom of expression, the ban on TikTok the withdrawal of the ban, and so on. 

The book edited by Kamal Dev Bhattarai incorporates articles by Bhakta Kharel, Ramji Dahal, Shreeram Paudel, Jibesh Jha, Rajendra Paudel, Jhabindra Bhusal, Tumraj Koirala, Umesh Pokhrel, Koshraj Koirala, Narayan Prasad Ghimire, Brij Kumar Yadav, Sabika Shrestha, Sara Pahari, Jeevan Bhandari, Bimala Tumkhewa, Shristi Kafley and Ram Kumar Kamat.

The Council said research and publication of research-based books is its priority in its goal of improving and enhancing the Nepali media. (RSS)
