All 36 sluice gates of Gandak barrage opened

By Bom Lal Giri, Nawalpur, Sept 28: All 36 sluice gates of Gandak barrage have been opened as the water level in the Narayani river has risen triggered by the incessant rainfall. 

The flow of water of 300,000 cusecs per second in Gandak Barrage is considered as an indicator of danger as the structure is old. 

 The water level in the Ganadak barrage was measured at 365,000 cusecs per second just sometime earlier. 

According to the Chief District Officer Arun Pokharel, all 36 sluice gates of Gandak barrage have been opened as the water level of the river reached a dangerous level. The water level is estimated to rise further.

 Kashinath Harijan, the Liaison Officer of Gandak Barrage, said that the water level was measured at 321,000 cusecs per second at 6 AM this morning. 

It is said that after the Narayani River crosses the danger level at Devghat, the water level in the barrage will increase further.
