Army routs Waling, Bagmati stuns Sankata

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Sept. 25: A hat trick from Chandra Bhandari helped Tribhuvan Army Club rout Waling Municipality 8-0 while Bagmati Youth Club registered a 3-1 win over Sankata Club at ANFA Women’s League on Tuesday. 

Along with Chandra’s treble, Bimala BK and Amisha Karki also netted a brace each in the dominant win of the Army. Waling also gifted an own goal to the Army. 

The win solidified the Army’s grip on the second position of the League with 19 points. The victory also secured the Army’s place in the second phase of the League. With 12 points Waling stands at the fourth position in the league standings. 

Chandra completed her treble by scoring in 42, 54 and 73 minutes. Bimala opened the scoring in the 38th minute and completed her double in the 90th minute. 

Waling’s Fatumah Nakasumba scored in her post in the 44th minute. Amisha scored her two goals for Army in the space of ten minutes (61’ and 71’). 

In the second match of the day, Gifty Acheampong netted twice and Pushpa Kumari Khadka scored one goal in the win of Bagmati at Anfa Complex, Lalitpur. Temilope Jeniffer scored a consolation goal for Sankata. 

The win lifted Bagmati to the fifth place with 10 points while Sankata moved down to seventh position in the league table. Sankata has eight points from eight matches. 

The match came to life when Gifty broke the deadlock in the 67th minute. She doubled the tally nine minutes later. Temilope cut the deficit for Sankata in the 83rd minute but Pushpa killed the match for Bagmati in the injury time (90+6’).
