Post-COVID Human Behaviour

The horrors of COVID-19 struck every citizen across the globe directly or indirectly. People still remember those days of lockdowns and quarantines afresh. Altogether, nightmarish days left the world in doldrums. Economy, education, and tourism and other sectors suffered major setbacks. Life virtually came to a standstill. People lived in constant fear, and insecurity. A small virus hit the borders and boundaries. Medical emergency was imposed throughout the world. Ambulance sirens were ringing in the ears day and night. The visuals from the hospitals left everyone shivering. 

It was more like putting ourselves in a prison. Even prisoners enjoy the prison protocols but COVID-19 victims had left a death toll in millions. Has man learnt any lesson? Has he behaved properly? Has he followed the ethical code of conduct? The post-COVID life saw man as similar as he was before the pandemic. He hasn’t changed a bit. Further, the bitter lessons that COVID-19 had left are forgotten. The valueless society, the rapes, the corruption, the bribery, the murders, the inhuman killings, the backbiting politics, the misuse of power, the selfish human relationships, the venting of anger and revenge, the outburst of sudden emotions and  passions, and the mutual blame game have been back on track as usual. 

The life of indefinite lockdown and medical emergencies brought no change in the life of a human being. Man is now back in the centre of politics. Money making by fraudulent routes is his sole business. The unethical values rule the man everywhere either by scams, scandals, and other illegal practices. Man has not been matured enough to behave in the way he is expected to be. He goes against the law of Dharma and indulges in his routine violations. Then what has he learnt from the lessons from COVID lockdowns? From the threat of extinction of life, he came back to revival of life. 

At the other end, on global front, Russia-Ukraine war is going on. Man kills his fellow human being. The war has continued for more than two years. Man invented the weapons and these weapons are killing man in return. What is the logic behind? Ideological wars are hitting the life of common man. People across the globe fought against the COVID-19 with concerted efforts. But the same man is using weapons to kills his fellow citizen.

When a man has no capacity to reproduce life, he cannot have the right to kill any living being. Still, man becomes ruthless and destroys Nature in the name of war. When people had collectively combated the war on COVID-19, why don’t they put an end to the ongoing war?  Human values have lost the principle of discipline. They are misusing the powers and the innocent people are victimised. Humanity has lost its human touch. 

All his actions show that he does not change forever in his sojourn of life. Life offers umpteen lessons and COVID-19 is one of them. Yet man is unchanged. Human nature is acting the laws of Nature. The lessons of COVID-19 are zero reminders now though they read about isolated cases and attacks throughout the world.
