Defending champion APF move to second

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Sept. 13: The two matches of Round 4 of the ANFA Women’s League 2080 on Thursday ended in the favour of two departmental teams: Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) and Armed Police Force (APF) Club.

The TAC defeated Bagmati Youth Club while the defending champion APF was victorious against Waling Municipality. 

In the first match of the day between Army and Bagmati, Army won by 3-0. While two goals were scored by Army’s Bimala Chaudhary and Amisha Karki in the 26th and 61st minutes respectively; the third was an own goal by Bagmati’s Sanju Thing.

On the other hand, APF could not keep a clean sheet against Waling. The defending champions were leading 2-0 until the 80th minute; however, a goal by Waling’s foreign player Cissy Nantongo did not let the team return goalless. The two goals for APF came in the first half as Renuka Nagarkote and Rashmi Kumari Ghising scored in the 12th and 38th minutes respectively.

After the end of four of the five matches in Round 4, Nepal Police is in the top of the table with 10 points. APF, with a win against Waling, climbed to the second with 10 points, but were behind on goal difference.

Likewise, the third spot is also taken by a departmental side, the TAC. Army now has nine points in four matches. 

As the departmental sides have come to the fight for the top spot, the other seven teams will be looking to get a spot in the top 5 as the five teams will progress to the second phase of the League. Koshi and Waling are currently in the fourth and fifth positions with 9 and 6 points respectively.

The match between Chandrapur Municipality and Sudurpashchim Province on Friday will mark the end of Round 4.
