By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Sept. 5: Dipendra Gauchan, who returned to Nepal after two decades to change the vision of Nepali film industry, has announced a new film ‘Missing: Keti Harayeko Suchana’.

Gauchan, known for making ‘Ujeli: A Child Bride in Nepal’ and praised for his contributions to the global film industry, is now ready to create a stir in the Nepali film industry with his new venture, Tri-City Pictures.

Tri-City Pictures, established by Gauchan and Nakhim Uddin, aims not just to entertain but also to create films that have a social impact.

Gauchan’s vision for the year 2025 includes transforming Nepali cinema into a flourishing, globally recognised industry.

The first film under this banner, ‘Missing: Keti Harayeko Suchana’ set against the vibrant backdrop of Nepal’s Taai region, is evidence of  this vision.

The film tells the story of the lifestyle and interactions between a youth from the hill community and a young woman from the Madhesi community.

It explores the beauty and culture of the Terai region while seeking a connection between the hill and  Madhesi communities.

Gauchan, the writer, producer, and director of the film, shared his inspiration for the film.

“Upon returning to Nepal, I noticed that most films were made in the hills and mountainous regions. Although these areas are prestigious, I wanted to showcase the beauty and rich cultural diversity of the Tarai,” he said.

In the film, Sristi Shrestha plays the role of Sita while Najir Husen plays Ram.

Additionally, local artists from Janakpur have taken on various roles.

The film’s executive producer is Nakhim Uddin, with Amar Maharjan as the cinematographer and Nimesh Shrestha as the editor.
