Dance competition of mothers held

Saptak Music Cultural Centre in Waling, Syangja, organised the open mother dance competition to make the Hartalika (Teej) celebrations different. 

Devraj Gaire, Proprietor of the Centre, said that the competition was organised to preserve the historical culture and importance of Teej.

In the competition, Samiksha Subedi secured the first position among 15 contestants.    Likewise, Sujana Pangeni and Asha Thapa secured the second and third positions respectively. The first, second and third prize winners received Rs.10, 000, Rs. 5,000 and Rs. 3,000 respectively. 

On the occasion, Member of Gandaki Provincial Assembly Kalpana Tiwari stressed the need to preserve the importance of Teej. 

Stating that there was a lack of opportunities for women, Tiwari said that after the advent of the democratic system, women were finding opportunities easily. 

Renowned dancers Shrishti Bishwakarma, Salina Thapa and Srishti Malla Thakuri, among others, performed their dances on the occasion.
