Kathmandu, Aug 22: Chief Whip of the CPN (UML) in the National Assembly, Bhagawati Neupane, has called on all the political parties to be united in completing the remaining works of the peace process.

Taking part in the clause-by-clause discussions on the Investigation on Enforced Disappeared Persons, and Truth and Reconciliation Commission (Third Amendment) Bill, 2079 in the National Assembly meeting today, she said the political parties have stood together at special times and expressed common resolve to resolve the problem in the past. "All the parties should stand at one place also to finalize the remaining agenda of the peace process," she added.

The UML Chief Whip in the upper house said that the bill has internalized the constitution, international laws and the suggestions of the concerned parties.

"This is the transitional justice; the two parties in the conflict have moved ahead joining hands. Attempts are made again to distract the peace process saying the victims will not get justice. The bill includes provisions denying general amnesty in cases of serious violation of human rights," she said.

UML Chief Whip Neupane stated that the bill also ensures relief and reparation to the conflict victims as well as to the discharged Maoist combatants and the security personnel. She asserted that the conflict would be transformed into sustainable peace and the conflict managed in the right way.(RSS)
