22: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that the arrears related to trunk and
dedicated line of the Nepal Electricity Authority will be collected from the
industries that have to make the payments.
Responding to queries of the
lawmakers at today's meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR), PM Oli
said, "Arrears will be collected, not forgiven. It will be done by letting
the companies to run, not by forcing them to shut down. Issues related to why
the payment was not collected in time, why the electricity supply to the
concerned companies was cut off and then connected links with the concerned
authority. The government is clear on this. Arrears will be collected without cutting
off the line."
He also made it a point that the
government and the NEA has no differences in this regard.
The PM dismissed the social media rumour that the government intended
to cancel the arrears.
