Kathmandu, Aug 22: The National Assembly has approved the Nepal Bar Council (Second Amendment) Bill, 2024.
A meeting of the upper house of the Federal Parliament unanimously endorsed the proposal presented by Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Ajaya Kumar Chaurasiya, seeking consideration on the bill.
Lawmakers Madan Kumari Shah (Garima), Kiran Babu Shrestha, Maya Prasad Sharma, Bishnu Kumari Sapkota, Krishna Prasad Adhikari, Tulasa Kumari Dahal and Sumitra BC took part in the discussions on the principles of the bill. They said serious study and review are necessary on the bill to make the existing Act timely.
Responding to questions that came up during the discussion on the bill, the Law Minister made it clear that the bill also incorporated the topic of establishing Nepal Law Academy which the law practitioners have been calling for from time to time.
He urged all lawmakers to play a constructive role in enriching the bill.
National Assembly Chairman Narayan Prasad Dahal informed the lawmakers that they can register their amendment proposals on the bill, if any, at the Bill Section of the Assembly. (RSS)
