Flag hoists on 78th Independence Day of Pakistan

Kathmandu, Aug 14: On the auspicious occasion of the 78th Independence Day of Pakistan, a flag hoisting ceremony was held at Chancery. 

According to a press release of Embassy of Pakistan on Aug 14, Ambassador of Pakistan Abrar H Hashmi unfurled the national flag at the Chancery. Embassy officials, Pakistani community and Nepalese friends along with their families attended the colourful ceremony.

Messages of President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Shebaz Sharif; and Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister were read out.

In the evening, Pakistan Embassy in collaboration with Nepal-Pakistan Friendship and Cultural Association (NPFCA) organized an Independence Day Reception at Hilton, Hotel, Kathmandu.

Vice President of Nepal Dr. Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav was the Chief Guest. Special guests included Dy. Speaker of HoR Indira Ranamagar, Former Prime Minister MK Nepal, Former DPM and Chairman of JSP-Nepal Upendra Yadav, Former Dy. Prime Minister CP Mainali, Former Foreign Minister Pradeep Kumar Gyawali and Member of Parliament Rekha Yadav. A good number of guests including Ambassadors, UN RC and agency heads, SG SAARC, diplomats, political figures, government officials, businessmen, defence attaches, journalists as well as Pakistani community.

Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Hashmi thanked Vice President for Nepal’s continued support and friendship. He said our civilizational commonalities, same regional dynamics, cultural and linguistic similarities as well as common developmental and ecological challenges make us multifaceted partners. Pakistan's approach to its partnership with Nepal is underpinned by desire to mutually benefit. To sustain the relations, we inked number of agreements such as trade, air services, cultural, tourism, agriculture cooperation, and many mechanisms exist between civil society, too. 

Dr. Manju Ratna Sayka (T.Pk), President of the NPFCA highlighted that the association with support of Pakistan Embassy in its 63 years of history has been serving to promote P2P exchanges, contributing in health and social sectors, and furthering the bilateral relations.
