Call for proportional representation of Dalit community

Kathmandu, Aug 10: A demonstration was staged in Maitighar Mandala today calling for proportional inclusive representation of Dalit community in the government formation and political appointments.     

In the demonstration organized by Dalit Campaign for Dalit Nepal in Kathmandu, the attendees had demanded Dalit representation in every apparatuses of the state.     

On the occasion, the activists were seen with placards reading 'Where is ministerial portfolio for Dalites tied in an iron chain?', 'Do Dalits have a law?' 'Are there appointments for Dalits?'     

Campaign coordinator Khagendra Sunar said the demonstration was staged demanding dignified participation of Dalit community in every structures of the state.     

Civil society representatives, including Dr Govinda KC and rights activist Kamala Hemchuri had reached Maitighar Mandla to express solidarity for the demand. (RSS)
