By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Aug. 8: A Nepali student studying in Australia has been missing for the past 12 days.
Subash Bolakhe, 28, of Panchkhal Municipality-7 Kavrepalanchowk has lost contact in Australia with his family members and relatives there.
According to Surendra Bolakhe, his brother went missing from Bexley, Southern Sydney of New South Wales, Australia from July 27, 2024.
Brother Bolakhe said that he went to Australia in October, 2023.
His brother Surendra said that he has also requested Nepalis in Australia to intensify search for his brother.
Subash, who hails from Panchkhal Municipality-7, was in touch with his family until (July 27) and he suddenly lost contact after that, Surendra said.
He was studying at The Hotel School, Southern Cross University, Sydney.
Family of Subash urged the government of Nepal and Australia for the search of missing Subash at the earliest possible.
"It has been 12 days since Subash was out of contact. But it is surprising that the Australian government and its police have not been able to find him. I want to request the Nepal government to take diplomatic initiatives to find him," Surendra said.
Subash's family has requested the Nepalis and foreigners who see him anywhere in Australia, including Bexley, Kogarah, Balmain and Sydney, to report to the police station there.
After Subash went missing, a missing complaint file was also registered at police station for his search.
Friend and relatives of Subash in Australia have informed the family members here in Nepal that he had left all his belongings including passport, travel card, mobile phone and other documents in his room at Wolseley Street, Bexley.
According to the police, he was last seen in Bexley on July 27. Anyone with information about Subash's whereabouts is urged to contact Kogarah Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800-333-000.
Meanwhile, Prakash Mani Paudel, Director General for the Department of Consular Services, said as soon as the missing report came to the office, Nepali Embassy in Australia had been coordinated and urged for prompt whereabouts of Subash.
He said he had personally informed Kul Bahadur Magar, Deputy Chief of Mission (Counsellor) Embassy of Nepal, Canberra, Australia about the incident and received information that the Embassy there had also been involved in his search channelising various sources, including police administration.
