All those who helped conclude Muharram festival honoured

By Our Correspondent,Nepalgunj, July 20: All those who helped conclude the Muharram, the festival of unity and harmony of the Muslim community. successfully, were honoured on Wednesday evening.

The festival of Muharram was observed for 10 days by performing different activities. The festival concluded on Wednesday evening by immersing Tahajiya. There is a custom of making Tahajiya statutes out of papers and wood and placing them at homes. 

On the same day before the immersion, the representatives who extended help to conclude Muharram festival peacefully were honoured at a programme orgnaised at Triveni. 

In the programme organised by Dhambojhi Muharram Community,  religious leader Maulana Mansur Ahamad Arfi  and Member of Constitution Assembly Abdul Hamid Sidhhiki  honoured Chief District Officer of Banke Khagendra  Prasad Rijal, Chief  of District Police Banke, SP Tul Bahadur Karki,  SP Bimal Dandi of  the Armed Police Force, Chief of Bajradal Battalion of the Nepali Army Rabin Shrestha and Deputy Director of National Investigation Department Om Khadka among others. 

Religious leader Maulana Manshur said that all religious group supported to mark the festival of harmony. 

Emphasising the religious unity and harmony, Chief District Office Rijal said that the people in Nepal mark their festivals by maintaining social harmony. He also said that Nepal is common garden of all people no matter what religions they follow. 

The 10-day Muharram festival was celebrated by both Hindus and Muslims  by performing various processions, meetings and gatherings.
