Jhapa, July 12: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli inaugurated Bhagiratha Neupane Buddhashanti Hospital constructed at Buddhashanti rural municipality-3 in the district on Saturday.
The 10-bed hospital was constructed at a cost of Rs 65 million. It was built on 15 katthas of land donated by the children of the first woman pradhanpanch of Nepal, Bhagiratha Neupane, in memory of the latter.
Chairperson of Buddhashanti rural municipality and Hospital Management Committee, Manoj Prasain, shared this information. Late Bhagiratha Neupane was the pradhanpanch of the then Budhabare village panchayat.
Six doctors, including one MD, four MBBS and one radiologist, have been providing services in the hospital. Of them, the rural municipality has appointed three MBBS doctors from its own sources.
The services available in the hospital are general medicine, minor surgery, gynaecology and maternity, paediatrics, dental, lab, x-ray, echo and pharmacy.
Chairperson Prasain said they would run the health facility around the clock. Even the berthing service will be available from August 17.
The hospital would benefit around 53,000 population of Buddhashanti rural municipality as well as the patients from the southern belt of the neighbouring district, Ilam. (RSS)
