Speaker Ghimire appreciates Rwanda's efforts for economic development, lasting peace

Kathmandu, July 12:  Speaker of House of Representatives (HoR) Devraj Ghimire said that the Republic of Rwanda has established itself as a successful nation in the world for good governance, rapid economic growth and lasting peace. 

At a programme here on Friday organized on the 31st Liberation Day of Rwanda, Ghimire stated that there are multiple areas including tourism, energy, information technology, agriculture and trade that Nepal and Rwanda could cooperate to take mutual benefits. 

He also stated that both Nepal and Rwanda have extended remarkable contribution to the UN Peacekeeping Mission despite these two countries witnessed huge loss due to internal conflicts. 

The Speaker viewed that Nepal and Rwanda should prioritize the policy of mutual assistance and cooperation, and work to uplift the livelihood of their peoples.

On the occasion, Ambassador of Rwanda to Nepal and India, Jacqueline MUKANGIRA, shared about the rapid economic growth and progress made by her country and its journey to prosperity, which, she said, were gained through good governance, transparency, gender equality, inclusive participatory exercise. 

Likewise, Dean of Honorary Consul Corps Nepal (HCCN), Chandra Prasad Dhakal, said that Nepal should learn from Rwanda to revitalize overall economic activities by achieving impressive achievements in education, health, infrastructure development, tourism, information technology and other areas by taking the private sector into confidence. 

Also speaking at the event, Joint Secretary of Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ramkaji Khadka stated that Rwanda gained significantly by attracting foreign direct investment and mobilizing domestic capital in a short span of time. 

The Honorary Consul of Rwanda in Nepal, Prajwal Jung Pandey, shared his efforts made to deepen trade and other relations between Nepal and Rwanda.

Speaker at the programme said that Rwanda has gained largely through production and export of its coffee and has offered unique and exemplary contributions for the world peace along with promoting reconciliation among the conflicting sides. (RSS)
