Mayor Chhetri marks marriage anniversary by donating Rs. 777,777 to Red Cross Society

By Rabindra Upreti ,Bardibas, July 18: Mayor Prahalad Chhetri of Bardibas Municipality marked his 25th marriage anniversary by donating Rs. 777,777 to the Bardibas Red Cross Blood Bank Centre.

 Joined by his wife Manju and relatives, Mayor Chhetri handed over a cheque of the amount to Rewatna Karki (Sudip), Chairperson of the Bardibas Red Cross Branch. 

The news of Mayor Chhetri's donation has garnered significant attention both socially and politically. The funds were his allowance from his service as a Mayor.

According to Sharmila Tamang, the account head of the municipality, "Mayor Chhetri has consistently refrained from utilising funds designated for personal transport and other allowances since assuming office. Instead, he has directed these resources towards meaningful contributions, including today's donation to the blood bank."

Expressing gratitude for the mayor's contribution, a staff member at the Bardibas Red Cross remarked, " We were facing financial problems. The financial support from Mayor Chhetri will  facilitate our operations, particularly in buying essential equipment."
