Over 400 thousand tourists visited Mustang in FY 2023/24

Myagdi, July 16: A total of 427,000 tourists visited Mustang district in one year. Such number of tourists entered Mustang using the Beni-Jomsom road to visit different places of Mustang in the fiscal year 2023/24.     

The number of tourists visiting Mustang was up by 47,504 in the last fiscal year as compared to fiscal year 2022/23.     

Ghasa Police Post keeps the record of tourists and vehicles entering Mustang via land route. Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, Mustang, Bhoj Raj Pandey, said 427,271 tourists in 74,374 vehicles entered Mustang in the last fiscal year.     

Of them, 318,814 were domestic tourists, 99,276 from SAARC countries and 9,171 from third countries, he added.     

Total 379,767 tourists—303,800 domestic tourists and 75,967 foreign tourists - in 62,340 vehicles visited Mustang in the fiscal year 2022/23.     

Krishna Prasad Subedi, a priest of Muktinath Temple, shared that facility of road and transport, publicity, digital marketing, construction of modern hotel and incorporating Annapurna Circuit Trek among the 10 best destinations of the world by a famous media are reasons behind increasing number of tourists in Mustang.     

Mountains, lake, monastery, Muktinath Temple, cave, culture and lifestyle are attraction of Mustang. Muktinath, Jomsom, Kagbeni, Lomanthang, Marpha, Thini, Dhumba lake are religious and tourism destinations of Mustang.     

Chairperson of Baragung Muktichhetra rural municipality, Rinjin Gurung, mentioned that however the number of tourists of third countries visiting Mustang is decreasing. He further said arrival of tourists might be increased if Beni-Jomsom road is blacktopped. (RSS)
