By Our Correspondent,Nawalpur, June 21: A leopard that had injured seven people, including a police officer, in Madhyabindu Municipality - 9, Nawalpur, was found killed.

On Thursday morning, the leopard suddenly entered the house of Ram Bahadur Khatri in Devkota Tole, Madhyabindu-8, and attacked six people while exiting the house.

The injured are Deva Thakuri, Sunil Jaiswal, Rupa Kumal, Amrit Chaudhary, Roshan Kumal and Amrit Mahato from Madhyabindu-8. They are currently undergoing treatment at the Madhyabindu District Hospital in Danda, according to the Nawalpur police.

In the process of rescuing the locals from the leopard's attack, one armed police officer was also injured. The leopard that injured seven people was later found dead, said Basanta Keshav Adhikari, the head of the Division Forest Office in Kawasoti.

Adhikari said that although it was possible to control the leopard with a dart when it entered Ram Bahadur Khatri's house, the district did not have a dart team, so the leopard escaped from the house and was later killed by the locals.

He added that the leopard, which had entered the settlement after being injured in a fight with another animal in the forest, was killed by the locals while it tried to flee after attacking them.

Adhikari said the leopard would be buried after a post-mortem examination and an investigation into the incident would be conducted. He also said that the incident occurred because the Division Forest Office failed to coordinate and summon a dart team from Sauraha, Chitwan in time, according to the locals. Previously, three Bengal tigers had died in Madhyabindu.
