By Gokarna Dayal, Baitadi, May 16: Of the two motorable bridges, one in Jhulaghat of Baitadi across the western checkpoint and the other in Darchula, that was to be constructed, a bridge along Darchula has gained momentum, however, the other is yet to start.
The task of fixing the steel bridge over the motorable bridge towards Darchula has started.
A work on 110 meters motorable bridge that connects Ashigada, Mahakali Municiplaity-8, of Darchula, and the Charchum area near Dharchula Tehshil Baluwakot of Pithoragarh district towards India is going in full swing.
Indian journalist Surendra Aryal said that Indian company Capacit'e Infraprojects Limited is handed the responsibility of the project. The investment for the construction of the bridge is worth Rs 32 million.
The locals from both sides of the country are elated with the onset of the construction of the bridge.
Locals downbeat in Jhulaghat
On the other side, the locals of Jhulaghat are unhappy as the bridge construction in the area has not started. Even the detailed project report (DPR) is yet to be made public.

The Indian technical team did an on-site inspection of the feasibility of a motorable bridge in Jhulagaht after the announcement. They later informed that 510 meters 510-meter-long bridge will be provided in Jhulghat.
Local Jaya Singh Bhat said that citizens of both countries were happy with the news, but now they are disappointed as no attempts have been made for bridge construction.
Indian Journalist Arya said, “Pancheshwar Multipurpose Project (PMP), Jhulaghat Motorable Bridge and Tanakpur to Jauljibi 106 meters long road construction across India is unable to gain momentum, which has made locals of both counties unhappy. The announcement from both sides of the country was made but no action has been followed through.”
