Tension erupts in Sunsari, 51 rounds of blank fire

By TRN Online, Sunsari, April 5: Police have opened 51 rounds of blank fire to disperse the crowd as tension erupted in Bhutaha, Sunsari after a clash. 

Assistance Chief District Officer Sunsari Bed Raj Phuyal informed that measures are being taken to take control of the situation created due to a clash between two groups. 

The clash started after a group of Muslim youth had attacked a Hindu youth in Bhutaha. The injured Jeevan Mehta who was attacked is receiving treatment in Dharan. The clash between Hindu and Muslim groups started on Friday morning.

According to the District Police Office, Sunsari, 52 rounds of blank fire have been shot so far.  The eyewitness said that two people got shot amid the 51 rounds of blank fire. 

The tension had turned to a way clash after 1 PM on Friday. Even after prompt mobilization of security,  security personnel had to back off as the crowd of both groups hulled.

 The meeting of the three security agencies of Koshi Province in the presence of the Deputy Superintend of Police has warned to increase security forces if the situation escalates.
