Goods worth Rs. 7.7 million seized from Makwanpur

By Our Correspondent,Hetauda, Apr. 5: Makwanpur Police Office has seized a huge amount of goods illegally imported from the southern border evading taxes.

The Area Police Office, Manahari, seized the illegal goods worth Rs. 7.7 million from the road section of the East-West Highway in Manahari Rural Municipality-7, Makwanpur district, on Wednesday. 

Police have also impounded a TATA vehicle with embossed registration number BAD 4370 and seized clothing items of various brands, spare parts of mobile phones, new iPhones and mobile phones of various brands. Police have seized 2,744 sets of clothing items.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Laxmi Bhandari, they seized the goods that didn't have purchase bills. DSP Bhandari said the vehicle was coming to Hetauda from Lothar. During the security check, police seized 82 sets of mobile phones of various brands including the iPhones. 

Police have also arrested the driver Raj Kumar Chaudhary, 28, of Triyuga Municipality-13, Udayapur. The arrested person and the seized goods were taken to the Office of Revenue Investigation, Pathalaiya, Bara, for further investigation.
