Jhapa, April 4: Five persons were feted with the 'Bise Nagarchi National Personality Honour, 2080'.
They were honoured with a cash
prize of Rs 51,000, commemorating the contributions of Bise Nagarchi, the
economic advisor to the nation builder Prithvi Narayan Shah.
At a programme organized by the
Gorkha Foundation in Birtamod on Wednesday, National Assembly member Gopal
Kumar Basnet handed over cash and letter of appreciation to film director
Tulasi Ghimire, film artist Rajesh Hamal, Chief District Officer Sita Pariyar,
cooperative campaigner Mahendra Giri and Bhuwan Singh Biswokarma.
Foundation Chair Biru Darnal
informed that Giri, who led the country's largest cooperative, was honoured for
his contribution at the local level during the COVID-19 pandemic, actor Hamal's
role in promoting art and culture through acting in more than 170 films, and Ghimire's
work in winning the hearts of the audience by directing quality Nepali
cinema.
The nation should honour
Bishwokarma, 71, who took the first step in Antarctica and Pariyar, who became
the first woman CDO from the Dalit community, he said, noting it was the duty
of all to respect those who have established national glory. (RSS)
