Dhorpatan (Baglung), April 29: A suspension bridge has been constructed over the Uttar Ganga River, connecting Chhentung and Khaldekhulde.

The 288.4 metres long bridge was constructed with an investment of Rs 27.7 million allocated by the federal government.

Ward Chairperson Umesh Budhamagar said that with the construction of the suspension bridge, travel to Dhorpatan has become easier for locals from more than a dozen villages including Dogadi, Chhalahalna, Kudum and Gadikhola in Dhorpatan Municipality-6.

Pan Bahadur BK, a local from Dhorpatan Municipality-6, said that after the bridge was built, he felt development has reached the village.

"Many times I was swept away while crossing the river. Luckily I could swim and survived. Women and children had to walk a winding path for two or three hours to cross the river. Now that a bridge has been built, it will be much easier to get livestock across and transport goods," BK said, expressing his happiness. (RSS)
