World Newa Day marked

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Apr. 3: World Newa Organization, Nepal Chapter has honored Newari people who have made significant contributions in their respective fields to mark the World Newa Day. Senior artist Madan Krishna Shrestha honored linguist Raja Shakya, writer Subarna Shakya, painter Kiran Manandhar, and bodybuilder Maheswor Maharjan during a program recently held in Lalitpur. Additionally, former Minister Dhurba Bahadur Pradhan, historian Yogendraman Shrestha, Dr. Pukar Chandra Shrestha, Susan Karmacharya, and Ajay Sthapit were also felicitated.

Senior comedian Shrestha mentioned that the organization Munasa, formed during the Nepal Bhasa movement, played a significant role in shaping him as an artist. During the program, Surendra Bhakta Shrestha, President of World Newa Organization-Nepal Chapter, stated that the organization is pressuring the state to include World Newa Day in the Panchanga Nirnayak Simiti's calendar. Additionally, a World Newa song, composed by Lokkabi Rajbhai Jakami and arranged by Jugal Dangol, was released. Dayaratna Shakya's book 'Newarology Matters' was also released during the program.
