By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Mar. 27: The Nepal Women's National Cricket Team is set to participate in the upcoming ACC Women's Asia Cup 2024, which will be held in Sri Lanka. The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) announced this through its social network on Tuesday.

Nepal initially missed out on a spot in the Asia Cup after losing to Malaysia in the semi-finals of the ACC Women's Premier Cup held last February. However, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) included Nepal in the Asia Cup, making it an eight-team tournament as it announced the schedule of the continental tournament to take place in Dambulla from July 19-28 today.

“Joining the cricketing powerhouses of India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh will be the semi-finalists of the Women’s Premier Cup 2024- UAE, Malaysia, Nepal, and Thailand,” stated the ACC in its press release.

This will be the third time the Nepali women's team will participate in the Asia Cup, having previously played in the T20 Asia Cup in 2012 and 2016. The upcoming Asia Cup will also be a T20 tournament.

Nepal has been placed in Group A alongside India, Pakistan, and the UAE. Group B consists of Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, and Thailand. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals.

Nepal's first match will be against Pakistan on July 19, followed by a fixture against the UAE on July 21, and they will conclude the group stage by playing against India on July 23.
