Police, Army march into quarterfinals

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Mar. 19: Nepal Police Club and Tribhuvan Army Club have both advanced to the men's quarterfinals in the 8th RBB NVA Women's and Men's Volleyball Championship.

In a match held at the National Sports Council Covered Hall in Tripureshwor on Monday, the Police defeated Budhanilkanth Volleyball Club in straight three sets. Police claimed the three sets by 25-19, 25-14, 25-22 score. With two consecutive wins, Police collected 6 points and qualified for the quarter-finals as the winners of Group C. Despite losing, Budanilkanth finished as the runner-up and also reached the quarter-finals.

In another men's match, Army rallied past Newton Club in straight sets of three to qualify for the quarterfinals as the winners of Group D. Army defeated Newton by a score of 25-15, 25-12 and 25-20. This was the Army's second consecutive win, having outplayed Gandaki Province in their first match.

Gandaki, however, managed to defeat Manimukunda Volleyball Club 3-1 to claim their first victory. Gandaki won the first two sets by 25-18, 25-14 and the third set by 25-19. Manimukunda claimed the fourth set by 27-29.

Similarly, in the women's match held on Monday, New Diamond Sports Club defeated Nepal APF Club in four sets of 3-1. New Diamond won the first set 25-17 but lost the second set 17-25. New Diamond, however, came back with a 25-15 and 25-23 win in the third and fourth set. In another match, Everest Volleyball Club defeated Tribhuvan Army Club by 3-1. Everest bounced back from the first set loss of 24-26 to win the second, third and fourth sets by 25-17, 25-19 and 25-22 respectively.
