Jhuna earns half a million rupees a month from fitness centre

By Nisha Rai,Dharan, Mar. 13: Jhuna Rai, a resident of Dental Line in Dharan Sub-metropolitan City-18, has been earning half a million monthly by running a fitness centre.

Rai returned to Nepal two decades ago with the dream of doing something in her own country after receiving Zumba training in Singapore. She worked as a gym trainer for a few years and started her gym centre 18 years ago with an investment of Rs. 70,000. At present, she earns Rs. 500,000 per month.

"Earlier people used to understand fitness as maintaining body weight and being attractive. However, now people understand it as a way to stay healthy. She said the gym had many benefits besides helping individuals lose weight and build body," said Rai.

She said that people of all ages showed interest in Zumba lately. “In the past, people were unaware of what Zumba is, but now people of all ages come to attend Zumba classes.”

Rai said that in addition to strengthening muscles, controlling weight, increasing the body's resistance to disease and increasing stamina, gym and Zumba also help reduce stress and strengthen the digestive system. Additionally, it gives a glowing face and eliminates body toxins, she added. 

Rai now gives employment to six trainers paying Rs. 30,000 each and seven other staff in her gym, and she is proud of her accomplishments.

Her business started with an investment of Rs. 70,000 now worths Rs. 20 million.
