Border outpost construction starts in Darchula

By Our Correspondent,Darchula, Mar. 2:The foundation stone for the border outpost (BOP) of the Armed Police Force Nepal has been laid at Dokat of Sunsera of Byas Rural Municipality-4, Darchula. 

Information officer and Deputy Superintendent of Armed Police Lili Bahadur Chand said that the foundation stone for the building of BOP was laid on Thursday although the BOP was established in Sunsera on May 8, 2023.

It is said that a contract has been signed with Saraswati Rithgade JV for Rs. 15.9 million for the construction of the building. 

Senior Superintendent (SSP) Ramesh Kumar Pandey of the Armed Police Force Baija Nath Brigade No. 7 laid the foundation stone of the building. 

Chief District Officer of Darchula Kiran Joshi, Armed Police Force Nepal No. 44 Battalion Headquarters Darchula's Chief and SP Harka Raj Pant, Byas Rural Municipality Vice-Chairperson Binod Kunwar, Nepal Army’s Gurugorakh Company Darchula's Chief Buddha Devkota, Byas Rural Municipality-4 Chairman Jhun Singh Bista and others were present on the occasion. 

Jhun Singh Bista, who provided land to the APF for the establishment of the BOP building, was honoured on the occasion. 

A team of security officers, who laid the foundation stone of the building in Sunsera on Thursday, carried out on-site monitoring and inspection of the Malikarjun and Mahakali coastal areas of Lekom on Friday. 

The locals are demanding that there is an urgent need to increase the security presence in some places including Kauwa in Byas.
