By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Jan 23: A youth with an engineering degree, Santosh Sapkota has become successful in the social media management sector choosing a career to pursue his interests.
Born in Parbat, Santosh was raised in Bhalwari of Rupandehi.
After completing SLC he went to Banglore to complete his mechanical engineering diploma. After doing the job for two years he returned to Nepal.
He had less idea about social media.
Nonetheless, he started to handle the admin of social media at the beginning. After having developed an interest in social media, he gradually began his focus towards it.
His journey as an admin of social media handling began during his stint where he used to work to enhance views in the content posted on social media.
He started to focus on enhancing likes and delivering content among users and his interest went higher.
With his own experience, he focuses on audience engagement, account validation, security issues and monetization.
He says that he used to see writing related to social media management and tutorials. Gradually he started to find mistakes and learn simultaneously.
He said that over time, public figures came up to ask for the management of social media.
He has helped manage the social media of rising celebrity stars Arjun Sapkota, Shirshir Devkota, Bimal Adhikari, Saigrace Pokhrel, Anil Gurung and emerging cricketer Kushal Bhurtel.
Management of social media like Facebook, and Instagram has become his source of income for the last four years.
With his experience as a freelance executive of social media for the last four years, he believed that the ability of consistent with hard work and patience in this field could bring lucrative income for living a high standard of life.
Meanwhile, it is challenging to learn the profession of social media manager to the vast majority.
The primary challenge of this field is to monitor cyber security, protecting it from hacking and phishing.
One must face the challenge of monitoring fake profiles in the case of public figures. In addition, the policy ambiguity of the government regarding social media is also another challenge to pursuing a career in this field.
According to him, monetization of Facebook and Instagram is difficult.
Sapkota is now aspiring to manage social media at the international level.
Unlike, a few years back, people can now start to know the importance of social media and its management by its professionals.
