By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Jan. 23: Publication House Indigo Ink in association with Nepal Forestry Technologists Association has come up Prakriti: Sahaastitwako Khoji (Nature: The Search Of Co-existence). A collection of promissory notes in Nepali by 27 foresters and ecology activists, the book has recently hit the bookstalls all over the country.
Edited by Dr. Roshan Sherchan and Dr. Himlal Shrestha, the book appeals to save nature for the long life of the earth. “The anthropocentric world view has damaged the ecology. That's why we should stand for eco-centric world view,” the editors have written in the blurb of the book.
The writeups centre on miscellaneous parts of nature conservation including the management of the forests, the study of forestry, ecological crisis, indigenous knowledge, wildlife conservation and research, climate change, gender issue, inclusion, sustainable development and so on. The writers have written their feelings while they studied and worked in the field of
nature conservation.
In his writeup, Dr. Rishi Bastakoti writes that he had done community-based service in Nepal and continued it in the USA as well. Dr. Roshan Sherchan, who is also a famous essayist, in his article 'Pinne Alias Peanut' professes a deep love for his dog while Kamal Jung Kuwar stresses making the ecology conservation field free of corruption for sustainable ecology.
Other writers including Kamal Thapa, Kamala Rupakheti, Kalpana Ghimire, Dr. Krishna Hari Gautam, Gayatri Karki, Govinda Kafle, Dr. Chandra Giri, Dr. Jagadish Chandra Baral, Dharti Chandra Yatri, Pashupati Koirala, Dr. Pushpaa KC Bhandari, Bharat Man Shrestha, Dr. Meera Tripathi, Mukti Gautam, Ramesh Kumar Thapa, Ramesh Prabhat, Dr. Raj Babu Pahadi, Dr. Rajesh Rai, Bijayraj Paudel, Bijay Hitan, Bishnu Prasad Acharya, Subhash Chandra Devkota, Dr. Syambhu Man Amatya and Dr. Himlal Shrestha also have printed their distinct footprints while they worked for the conservation of the ecology.
Meanwhile, a panel discussion was organised on the book at K And K International College in the capital. Journalist Ramesh Bhusal, authors Chet Nath Kanel 'Harit' and Bina Thing expressed their views that the articles would contribute to the eco-friendly world. “I find the articles a form of good eco-literature,” Harit said at the discussion moderated by Milan Budhathoki and Balika Maden.
Dr. Himlal Shrestha, co-editor of the book, addressed the queries raised in the discussion.
The discussion was organised by the Association of Nepal Science Journalists.
