One killed in fire

Lamjung, Jan 19: A person was killed when a house caught fire at Syage, Marsyangdi rural municipality-4 in Lamjung district.

Forty-four years old Santamaya Shrestha died after fire engulfed the house last night, according to police. The victim's husband, 45-year-old Rajendra Shrestha, however escaped he fire by running out, Police Inspector at the District Police Office, Thaneshwor Chapain, said. He added that although the locals and police tried to douse the fire, the house was completely gutted.     

The Shrestha couple from Besisahar municipality-2 had been operating a retail shop and cloth store at the place for the last 11 years.     

Goods and articles inside the house were destroyed by fire, and the police are assessing the damage, it is said. Only the wife and husband duo lived in the house and their children live in Kathmandu.(RSS)
