Kathmandu, Jan 6: RSS journalists Narayan Adhikari and Narayan Dhungana were honoured in recognition of their contribution to the development and promotion of the poultry sector in the country.
Along with felicitation, they also received cash prizes during the 17th annual general assembly and convention of Nepal Hatchery Industry Association.
Secretary at the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, Dr Rewatiraman Poudel honored them with a certificate of appreciation at the program held in the federal capital on Friday.
President of the Federation of Nepali Journalists in Chitwan, Adhikari is the head of the RSS Chitwan Regional Office, while Dhungana is a RSS correspondent based in Kathmandu. Another journalist Madhusudan Guragain was also honoured at the same programme.
On the occasion, President of Nepal Hatchery Industry Association Rishiram Poudel called upon the government not to allow the hatchery industry and poultry business collapse, which he said was deteriorating for the past four years.
With an investment of 160 billion and five hundred thousand jobs, the poultry sector contributes 3.5 per cent to the gross domestic production of the country.
Likewise, President of Nepal Poultry Federation, Gunachand Bista, lamented that the government has not been able to do take any special measures for the development of the poultry sector and addressing the existing problems. He stressed that the formation of the Poultry Board should be realized through the steering committee constituted for the same.(RSS)
