Victory for Koshi, Gandaki, APF and Sudurpashchim

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Dec. 23: Koshi Province, Gandaki Province, Armed Police Force Club (APF) and Sudurpashchim Province emerged victorious on the second day of the PM Cup Women’s National Cricket Tournament 2080 on Friday.

Koshi won against Bagmati, Gandaki defeated Karnali, Madhesh was outclassed by APF and Sudurpashchim emerged victorious against Lumbini.

Bagmati posted a target of 88 for Koshi by losing eight wickets in the 20-over game. Koshi scored 92 in 18.1 overs by losing only two wickets and grabbed their second win in a row.

Both Kajal Shrestha and Apsara Begam, who also took two wickets by giving only nine runs, scored 41 runs each for Koshi. Apsara was also great with the bowl as she picked two wickets. 

Meanwhile, Gandaki was able to defend the target against Karnali and won by 44 runs. Karnali, chasing a target of 142, lost six wickets to score only 97 in 20 overs. Anjali Bishwakarma and Jyotsnika Marasaini both scored half-centuries for Gandaki to set the target losing six wickets.

Title defender APF was the most dominant team on Friday as it packed Madhesh in 40 runs in 19.2 overs. APF’s openers Jyoti Pandey (16) and Sita Rana Magar (19) scored 41 in 5.5 overs to win the match by 10 wickets. With two consecutive victories, APF topped the league table with four points bettering Koshi on net run rate. 

Sudurpashchim Province also showed the team was good with both bat and ball. Restricting Lumbini to 71 in the loss of seven wickets at the end of the 20-over inning, Sudurpashchim’s batters won the game in 9.5 overs by nine wickets.

Staying not out at 24 runs in 12 balls and 17 runs in 25 balls, Kabita Joshi and Rewati Dhami chased the target for Sudurpashchim respectively.

Madhesh, Lumbini, Karnali and Bagmati will be playing against Koshi, APF, Sudurpashchim and Gandaki on Sunday respectively.
