By Raju Lamichhane,Musikot, Dec. 13: Security forces have been deployed in the quake-hit district of Rukum West to construct makeshift shelters. A joint team of security forces from the Nepali Army, the Armed Police Force and Nepal Police has been mobilised to construct the temporary housing in Aathbiskot Municipality and Sanibheri Rural Municipality of the district.
Chief District Officer and chairman of the District Security Committee Hari Prasad Panta said that the security forces began constructing temporary housing for the affected families. Around 100 security forces have been mobilised in the two local levels-- Sagine Gaun of Sanibheri Rural Municipality-2, and Jiula of Aathbiskot Municipality-13.
A meeting of the District Disaster Management Committee held on November 29 had decided to ask for the support of the security forces to construct the temporary houses. Two weeks after the decision, the security forces were mobilised in the field.
In case of a shortage of necessary infrastructure to construct the temporary housing, the security forces were instructed to use the materials available from the damaged infrastructure.
In Rukum West, over 30,000 houses were damaged in the November 3 quake. As per the collected record, the DAO has to construct 24,423 makeshift housing. Earlier, some temporary houses were built in support of the cadres deployed by different political parties.
