LDT Vice Chair Lama calls for developing Lumbini as Buddhist research centre

Lumbini, Dec 8: The Lumbini Development Trust (LDT) Vice Chairperson Dr Lharkyal Lama has urged the international Buddhist community to help develop Lumbini as a Buddhist research centre. 

Attending an interaction with the theme of 'impact of Buddhist education in the community development and global welfare' organised here today jointly by the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu and the Lumbini Buddhist University, he said Lumbini, the sacred birthplace of Buddha, should be developed as the Buddhist research centre while providing the evidence of Kakruchhanda Buddha, Kanakmuni Buddha and Shakyamuni Buddha proving Lumbini as the birthplace of Buddha.  

Stating that Buddhist religion originated from the sacred birthplace of Buddha, Dr Lama said Lumbini is the sacred birthplace of Buddha, a source of global peace. 

Stating that there is global importance of Buddhist education and Buddhist religion is not only faith but also ideology and principle, he said Buddhist education is a guideline for making a humane life meaningful and it should be followed and promoted. (RSS)
