By Jaya Krishna,Inaruwa, Nov. 4: For the first time, Dewanganj Rural Municipality, situated on the border of Sunsari, is hosting a Youth Festival.
The event, known as the ‘Dewanganj Youth Festival’, commenced on Friday and is set to address crucial topics like education, healthcare, agriculture, and employment.
Organising a press conference, the organisers disclosed the programme schedule and affirmed that all preparations have been finalised.
One of the highlights of the event is the Mr. and Miss Dewanganj competition, scheduled to run until November 7.
As part of this, young individuals interested in participating need to submit their applications. Organisers will then select candidates, based on their talent.
Furthermore, the festival will also honour and recognise the historical significance of agriculture and education in Dewanganj Rural Municipality.
Over 60 participants are expected to compete for the titles of Mr. and Miss Dewanganj, with cash prizes to the winners.
Participants securing first, second and third positions will receive Rs. 21,000, Rs. 11,000 and Rs. 5,100 respectively.
In addition to the competition, a ‘Youth Talk’ programme is scheduled from November 7 to 14.
Furthermore, the festival will introduce a food festival from November 16 and 17.
This unique addition aims to preserve and promote the local culture, language and traditions as well as provide a platform for youth leadership development and expression.
The finale of the Mr. and Miss Dewanganj competition is slated for November 17.
Local youth leader Devanand Mehta said that the festival would be instrumental in promoting local culture, costumes and cuisine.
Soni Mehta, Head of Employment Branch in Devanganj Rural Municipality, anticipated that the festival would also enhance the skills and employment prospects of the youth.
The organising committee, represented by Roshan Mehta, is enthusiastic about the opportunity the festival presents for identifying and showcasing the talents of the youth.
The two-week-long event promises a wide array of experiences, from entertainment to food, talent development, and more.
Notable figures including Pankaj Mehta, Surendra Kushwaha, Vinod Mehta, ward presidents, people's representatives, and numerous enthusiastic youths were present at the inauguration ceremony.
