By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Nov.1: The 16th Godawari (Chrysanthemum) Flower’s Competition has kicked off at Jawalakhel, Lalitpur.
With the Tihar and Chhath festivals around the corner, the five-day exhibition has been organised targeting Tihar, the festival of flowers and light, said the Floriculture Association Nepal (FAN). Agriculture and Livestock Development Minister Dr. Beduram Bhusal inaugurated the event organised by the FAN on Tuesday.
Min Bahadur Tamang, president of FAN, said that some 40,000 visitors are expected to visit the five-day event.
There are 70 stalls including 61 commercial stalls, two competition stalls, five informative stalls and two selfie point stalls in the exhibition.
The exhibition which will continue till November 4 is expected to do business worth Rs. 10 million.
‘Let’s decorate our houses and surroundings by planting Godawari’ is the theme of the exhibition this year.
The main objective of the exhibition is to ensure an easy supply of flowers and promote the Godawari flowers commercially, said FAN.
There are 400 kinds of indoor and outdoor plants, 300 kinds of flowers and fruits, 200 kinds of ceramic and plastic vessels, and 100 kinds of necessary things for gardening and rooftop farming in the exhibition.
